Locations: London, Berlin
Closing date: 30 September 2021
Nature Photonics – a leading international journal covering all areas of optical science and photonics technology is seeking a Locum Associate or Senior Editor to join its editorial team to work on all aspects of the journal.
The successful candidate will play an important role in determining the representation of the fields they handle for the journal, and will work closely within a team of editors on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection, management of the peer review process, commissioning and editing of reviews and comment, and writing for the journal.
The ideal candidate should have a PhD (or equivalent) and preferably postdoctoral experience in optics-related research, and should be able to demonstrate a general interest in other areas of research beyond their own. Editorial experience would be beneficial, but is not required, as we provide full training; candidates with substantial editorial experience will be considered for Senior Editor. Broad scientific knowledge and training, excellent literary skills and a keen interest in the practice and communication of science are a prerequisite. The successful candidate must be an enthusiastic communicator, have excellent interpersonal skills and be prepared to liaise with their community of researchers through conference attendance and lab visits, via remote calls and on-site visits when permitted.
The position is offered on a full-time basis for an initial period of 9 months, and will be located in our London or Berlin office. All employees are currently working remotely but the successful applicant will be required to spend time in the office, once they reopen in line with our working from home policy.
